We're an all male Southern Gospel Trio/Quartet with a West Texas sound. The original group was formed in 1991 as a mixed quartet and was called the Andrews Gospel Quartet. Original members were Stan Martin, Melisa Martin, Sandra Angel and Randy Ervin. In 1995 the group went all male, (the girls got tired of the boys) and added new members Steve Compton and Joseph Ervin. The Name of the group was changed to the Watchmen, inspired by a verse of scripture found in Isaiah 52, the group changed it's name one more time to the West Texas Watchmen in 1996 (Proud to be from the Lone Star State of Texas), and that is what they are called today. In Aug of 1996, Joseph who sang baritone and lead, decided to join the U.S. Army (Joseph is Randy's son and was a senior in High School at the time). Eventually Gary Ragland was added to the group and that was how it would stay until March of 1999, when Steve had to leave the group and move to El Paso because of a change in his employment.
Don Webster was added to the group at that point but unfortunately was transferred to Lubbock, Texas to work at KAMY Christian radio in June of 1999. But God's is Good and so He sent Us a man by the name of Andy Ervin (Randy's long lost cousin) to take his place. Change came again in the fall of 2000 when Andy and Gary resigned from the group. Shortly after that God sent us one of the most godly (young) men that we've ever known. His name is Bennett Kimbell. He is a teacher in Andrews, Texas and has been a real blessing to us. The West Texas Watchmen have been blessed to open for many groups including:  The Florida Boys, James Blackwood and The Blackwood Quartet, Greater Vision, The Wilburns, The Men of Music, The Toney Brothers, The Nelons , J.D. Sumner & The Stamps & The Dixie Melody Boys.
